Meta’s Massive Louisiana Data Center: Opportunities Abound!
Last week, Jake VanCoevering attended the Monroe Chamber of Commerce Meta Data Center meeting, where over 600 people gathered—many from the local community and others from across the state—all eager to learn more about this groundbreaking project. The Meta Data Center is set to be one of the most ambitious builds in Louisiana, and the excitement in the room was palpable.
The Biggest Data Center in North America
The main topic of the evening? The immense opportunities surrounding the Meta build. Meta has enlisted three major general contractors to manage the project, each represented at the meeting by a vice president:
- Andy Andres – DPR Construction
- Daniel Harmon – Turner Construction
- Steven Knighton – Mortenson Company
These industry leaders revealed a staggering fact: This data center will be the largest ever built in North America—it’ll comprise of approximately 92 acre facility on a 2250 acre property! To put it in perspective, it will be ten times the size of the next largest Meta data center. The project is expected to span the next five years, with up to 5,000 laborers on-site at its peak.
Opportunities for Businesses & Contractors
One of the biggest takeaways from the meeting? There are still countless contract opportunities available! The general contractors emphasized that they needed assistance in virtually every aspect of the build.
