BlueFin Energy, contacted Leaaf’s Environmental Health and Safety Division for assistance on sound level surveying two site locations located in New Iberia, LA. The two facilities surveyed by Leaaf were conducted throughout grade-level work areas during regular business operating hours. A-weighted sound pressure measurements were collected using a calibrated Quest SoundPro DL2-1/1 octave digital sound level meter and recorded approximately every 15 feet at 48-60 inches above grade in designated work areas and lay down yards.
A total of 141 sound level measurements were collected during the survey and compared to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulatory limits as detailed in 29 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 1910, Subpart G, Standard No. 95 for occupational noise exposure. Additionally, Leaaf provided BlueFin Energy with isopleth maps using client-provided computer-aided design (CAD) drawings. The isopleth maps depicted color coded decibel ranges from 85 decibels to 105 decibels and the corresponding OSHA hearing protection requirements. A final report included an executive summary, sound level survey methodology, summary findings, and recommendations for BlueFin Energy. |
