Leaaf Environmental, LLC (Leaaf)’s Environmental Health and Safety Division was contacted to conduct a perimeter metal dust air monitoring on behalf of Relativity Space, Inc. located at Building 9101 at the Stennis Space Center property in Hancock County, Mississippi. Metal dust air monitoring was conducted to determine the extent of lead, chromium, and cadmium ambient air exposure during scheduled lead paint abatement activities performed at the site.
Leaaf conducted four rounds of air sampling for four containment areas. Each containment area was sampled and collected in accordance with National Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Method 7303 at four (4) critical barrier points located at the containment perimeter and one (1) high efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filtration outflow point. Four (4) rounds of sampling were completed from July 2023 to November 2023 and sampling media was compared to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulatory exposure limits as detailed in 29 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 1910, Subpart Z, Standard 1025, 1000, and 1027 for lead, chromium, and cadmium air. Upon receipt of laboratory Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) analysis for 20 samples collected during abatement activities, a final report included an executive summary, sampling methodology, and summary findings, and a conclusion of the air monitoring survey performed.
